Crandall Canyon Memorial Run

My sister-in-law Heidi asked us back in the spring if we wanted to do the Crandall Canyon Memorial Run with her. I'm really glad that we did. It was a lot of fun to do a run with Heidi, Adam, Ashlee, and Austin. Plus, the scenery in Huntington canyon was so beautiful to run in. Paul and I decided to do the half marathon because we had never done one before. We were both able to finish, which was my goal. Except, I won't say we weren't tired or ready to be done running by the time we finished. 13 miles is a ways to go, and my running shoes were killing my feet. I probably should have worn different shoes because by the time I got done, I had two blisters and a really swollen toe nail. I was hobbling by the time I crossed the finish line. I wish my feet wouldn't have hurt so bad because I didn't really feel exhausted, I just had sore feet. Paul ran so fast so I saw him when we started and not again until we finished. Ashlee did a great job and finished the 5k faster then any of the other girls who ran it, and Heidi ran her entire 5k. They are both so awesome!! It was fun to have my Dad, Mom, Travis, and Michelle there to cheer us on.

Ben Folds Concert

Paul got us tickets to the Ben Folds concert at Deer Valley. I won't lie, I really didn't know who Ben Folds was, but it was still a lot of fun going to an outdoor concert. Harold and Tristan were so nice to go REALLY early to save us an amazing spot on the grass. Joe and Kasey, Bryce and Kimalee, and Uncle Steve came to the concert too.

Girl's Camp - True Colors

We had a great time at girl's camp this year. Missy was so generous and let us all stay at her family's cabin in Bear Lake. We had so much fun staying up really late, laughing, hiking (maybe not all of us liked hiking), swimming, synchronized swimming, and boating. Here's a list of my top ten favorite things from camp this year:
  1. Hanging out with all the fun girls
  2. Having a flushing toilet
  3. Pranking the girls with our Scary Mask Guy
  4. Boating "Tower of Terror" style
  5. Getting to know Ted more
  6. Annie being locked out
  7. Driving fast down the dip in the road
  8. Going inside the Minnetonka Cave
  9. The picture of all the leaders being limber in front of the limber tree (who knew Missy could do a hill stretch that pretty much touches her ear!)
  10. And last, but certainly not least, Julia's cell phone prank!! That was good!!

How We Celebrate Liberty

Richfield had another sweet parade and party at the park again this year. Not really sure why they decided to have it on July 5th, but it was still sweet. We got up with the cannon and ran the 5k. If you're ever curious what the proceeds to the 5k go towards, it's liberty. I ask the person who helped signed us in, and that's what he said. Huummm, okay!! After the run, we went to our usual spot in front of Dr. Christensen's office to watch the parade and headed to the park for lunch afterwards. We cheated on the Begay's this year, and purchased a quesadilla over a Navajo taco. It was a big deal for us. If we go for the quesadilla again next year, then I guess it's a new tradition. We had a great time just being in Richfield and seeing a lot of friends. I think the 4th of July is my favorite holiday. Hooray for liberty!!

Lost Lake

We spent part 4th of July weekend in Fish Lake National Forest. We had a great time camping, hiking, and fishing with Uncle Steve. He's a good sport and lets us haul him around with us. Paul and Steve chose this location so they could do some fishing at Lost Lake, one of their favorite spots. As always, it was so beautiful at the lake, and we had it all to ourselves expect for a cute couple who were camping nearby. Paul had fun with them because they let him teach them some of his fishing tips. Bob and Glynis also came up and brought us a really good dinner, and it was fun to hang out with them too. It was a really fun trip.

Lagoon - It's What Fun Is!

The company I work for had it's annual family Lagoon Day. Paul and I go every year, but this year made me realize that I'm getting older. I remember when I could go to Lagoon from sun up to sun down, but those days are gone. This year, I lost all my dignity and lunch (literally). What has happened to me? If you're not familiar with the Samurai, it's a horrible ride that swings you in every direction. Paul loves it, but it usually gives me a huge headache. Every year he wants to go on it first, but this year I promised I would go on it with him if we waited until the end of the day. I made good on my promise and went on it with him before we left, but shortly after leaving the park, I had him abruptly pull over the car so I could find some relief. Not a great way to end the day, but I really did feel better. Paul had no sympathy for me and just laughed. He even took a picture of the crime scene, which I won't post. I'm not so sure Lagoon is "what fun is" anymore, but I'll probably go again next year!

Paul and I At the Company Lunch

We randomly ran into Orson at Lagoon. For anyone who
knows him, it shouldn't come as a shock that he has a Season Pass.
This is Paul with Orson and his girlfriend.

Lunch With Mel

I have to say my friend Melissa is the best. She never fails to give me a call when she's in town so we can meet up for lunch and spend some time catching up. She was here in Utah for a visit back in June, and we met at Chilis, one of our favorite restaurants. I can't believe that we've already known each other for 10 years. She's one of those friends that I know I'll always keep in contact with. I love her!

I love this picture!
It totally looks like we planned our outfits around the decor

Hiking

We couldn't wait for the weather to finally start warming up so we could get outside and have fun hiking. I especially like hiking because it's an activity that Paul and I both like, we get to bring Steve and Dave along, and it's great exercise. We spent a few Saturdays in June hiking in nearby Yellow Fork Canyon. There's a great trail that's a 6-mile loop. At the top you have a great view of the Copper mine and the valley.
