We celebrated Paul and Evan's first Father's Day yesterday. Paul is such a great Dad, and I must admit that he is a natural when it comes to changing diapers, giving baths, and calming Evan down without the use of food. Evan got Paul a little fishing pole for his Father's Day gift. Paul has been talking about taking him fishing before he was even born. He even asked me in the hospital if he was old enough to take fishing. I know that Evan loves Paul and that these two are going to be the best fishing buddies.

Bath Time
At Evan's two week doctor's appointment, we were told he could start taking regular baths. We were happy about this because Evan didn't like the sponge baths. I think they made him cold. Annie gave us a cute little tub that Evan loves. Now bath time is so much fun!
2 Week Old Doctor Appointment
We feel really lucky to have found a great pediatrician for Evan. He had his two week old check up a couple of weeks ago and passed with flying colors. His doctor said he is a healthy little boy and that his growth is great. At the appointment, he weighed 9 lbs. 2 oz. and was 22 inches long. Here's a picture of him getting checked on the table.

First Photo Shoot

We had one of our great friends who is also an awesome photographer do Evan's first photo shoot when he was 8 days old. We thought it was great that she came to our house to take his pictures so we didn't have to take him out anywhere. Paul and I assisted with helping hold the equipment and keeping warm air from a blow dryer on him so he wouldn't get upset. We are so happy with how the pictures turned out. Here are some of our favorites. It's amazing how fast they grow and change.

40 Weeks and Counting...
I thought for sure my little guy would be here before his due date on May 15th. However, that day came and went and I'm still pregnant. I'm trying to be patient, but it's hard when everyone keeps asking me when he's going to come. We've also been given countless amounts of advice on things to try that will start labor - walking, castor oil, spicy foods, jumping on a trampoline, etc. The only thing we've tried is taking long walks but that hasn't seemed to get him moving. I know it won't be too much longer before he's here so until then, Paul and I are enjoying the last few days we have together and trying to keep our house spotless. We can't wait to meet him and see who he looks like and how big he his.
I'm actually going to miss some things about being pregnant. It has been so fun each week to look up how the baby is progressing and growing on babycenter.com. I love to feel him moving and kicking, and he gets hiccups at least once a day, which I think is so cute. My pregnancy also hasn't been too awful as far as sickness goes so It's been interesting to see how your body changes and grows.... let's just hope it all goes somewhat back to normal eventually. I remember my very first appointment when the doctor did an ultrasound that was just a blob with a beating heart and that was such a special memory.
With that being said, there are some things that I won't be sad to be done with. I hate going to my checkups and being weighed... can't we just assume that I've gained weight? I got horrible swollen ankles and achy finger joints during my 3rd trimester. I also won't be sad to see all of the skirts and pants with elastic panels leave my wardrobe. But all of these little annoyances and inconveniences are nothing and well worth it if the baby is just healthy, happy and safe.

Baby Shower With The Young Women
My very thoughtful visiting teachers, Lori & Cindy, threw me a baby shower with some of the ladies from our ward and all the young women girls and leaders. We had fun playing games, opening gifts, and just being together. It meant so much to have all of their love, support, and excitement for me and my family. I am so blessed to live in such a great neighborhood with people who love me.
One of the games we played was putting together advice using candy bars, here are some of what they came up with:
- Sing your baby to sleep each night under the "Milky Way."
- When his teeth grow in, you might feel a "Crunch."
- Remember babies are "Mounds" of fun.
- The reason your "Mounds" get BIGGER is because your "Almond Joy" wants some "Milky Way!!"
